this really is becoming a bit tedious now!
remember that mighty victory i won against manchester city council a few weeks back, when i kicked their arses to the local government ombudsman and back? well, about a week after i got the letter from them saying i owed them bugger all, i got this year’s council tax bill and, perusing the breakdown of charges i noticed £109 for “council tax arrears from previous years”. so i thinks to myself, “i don’t remember owing them anything from before - and anyway, that woman wrote to me and said my account was clear”, so i wrote back to the spastics [yet again!] and said [not in so many words] “can you spell out exactly when this £109 dates from, because i’ve got in writing that my account with you is clear, so give me exact dates and amounts or i ain’t paying”
i got a letter back from them about a fortnight ago saying that my “complaint” had been passed onto the same woman who wrote me that grovelling apology before and that she’d get back to me by 19th april.
so this morning [22nd - not the 19th, but quite good for them retards!], i got another letter from yer woman, with a huge list of incomprehensible sums for council tax, ‘rebates’, ‘refunds’, ‘payments’, ‘allowances’ etc for the past three years, which made no sense to me at all. and then i get to the end of the list and find the following:
“the demand sent to you for £109 was an error. please accept my apology”
i would celebrate yet another victory, but i’m sure it’s only a matter of time till i get a court summons through the door for not paying the “£109 outstanding from previous years”
are we talking plankton here, or are we talking plankton?
