yesterday we all piled down the pub after college, coz it was one of my workmate’s birthday. ironically the venue chosen for the occasion was none other than the salutation in hulme - nary a stonesthrow from my house and my onetime local, until they tarted it up a bit and all the regulars seemed to drift away. had a few pints, played a few games of pool and even chucked a few arrows. i always thought dartboards in pubs were little more than an ornamental feature, so i was mightily surprised when they actually had a set of semi-decent darts behind the bar.
mind you, considering i spent many an hour as a teenager killing boredom by playing marathon darts sessions wi my brother, i was pretty cac-handed altogether - but it was still good fun.
after the pub, we were all up for being good and going home, til some evil soul raised the idea of going for a curry in rusholme. needless to say we didnae take much persuading, so about ten hardcore survivors of our original group of about 20 piled into a couple of cabs and headed for the famous ‘curry mile’ . we stopped of for a swift ‘un in the clarence pub to regroup and then onto the shezan. the food wasnae bad, although my vindaloo was more heat than flavour. one of the lads had thoughtfully scored a case of lager from the offy across the road too, so we had another couple of cans to wash down our grub. then me and mazza decided to do one, leaving the rest of them there to finish the booze [because mazza had an opticians appointment in the morning]. we staggered off home walking in the drizzle, as a slight penance and feeble attempt to burn off some of the calories accrued during the day’s debauchery.
the really scary thing is we’re going to do it all over again tonight, coz last week we arranged to go out for a curry wi some other friends - ooh! my poor sphincter! will it ever forgive me?
