well, while perusing my dismal visitor figures in the madra.net stats the other day, i noticed that there were a fair few 404 errors being generated - presumably people using old links to pages which dinnae exist anymore, following the redesign. so i scrawled a quick cartoon and threw together a quick ‘ custom 404 page’ so now the lost and lonely are confronted wi sommit a bit more friendly than the generic unix 404.
the cartoon turned out pretty shite [damn my inability to draw hands!] but hopefully no-one will see it anyway! if you want to take a look, you’ll have to type in a URL at madra.net that disnae exist.
i also added a simple PHP based ‘non-vanity inducing counter’ i wrote a while back, which actually counts genuine distinct visitors. this is unlike a lot of the ego-massaging’ counters out there which count repeat loading of a page by the same visitor as being multiple visits.
[that's my excuse for the pathetic visitor numbers on display anyway!]
