last day of our sojourn on the south coast. once again we were up at the crack of noon and once again i cemented my place in the rock’n'roll hall of fame with a nice BFB.
around lunchtime, me and andy nipped off to brighton for a quick mission to the shakespeare’s head [the pub we were in last night]. on andy’s part to collect a fender rhodes piano off luke [luke is emigrating to spain and andy's lookin after the ivories for him til he's got enough money to get it sent out] and on my part to retrieve my camera. i’m glad to report both missions went without a hitch, bar the inevitable grazed knuckles incurred in manhandling a huge electric piano and speaker cabinet down some narrow winding stairs in the pub].
once back in newhaven at about 3 o’clock, me and mazza bid the rest of the chaps a fond farewell and left for home - andy had to go into london again to hover at the last showing of his movie, so we thought we’d clear out and leave him in peace to get ready. we nipped into newhaven sainsburys on the way and scored some diesel and snacks’n'treats for the journey.
the trek home was pretty uneventful apart from the fact that we got stuck in a fair bit of traffic whilst trying to skim the edge of london to get northward bound and the further fact that we got flashed by a speed camera in congleton, which really pissed me off as i’d been complaining on the way down about how many speed cameras there were down south [making me jump on the anchors every few yards] and then i go and get nabbed by one practically on my own doorstep on the way back!
we got back to ‘hulme sweet hulme’ about 1:30 am and sat up for a while waiting for our sherbet to wear off, before hitting the sack. stepping with trepidation onto the bathroom scales, i was pleasantly surprised to find out that my weekend spent on a diet of booze, grease and curry with no exercise had actually caused me to lose 2lbs!
now i have three days to get my scrawny carcass back on the alcohol-free straight and narrow and knock it into shape, before we set off for the goth festival at whitby on thursday. sometimes it’s quite hard work, living this jetsetting lifestyle!
