my god! we’re actually starting to look like a decent team! for a start it was nice to see the stade de france at least half bedecked in green. and for seconds – what a sturdy performance from éire. OK. france may be a pale shadow of their all-conquering sides of the recent past, but they’re still one of the world’s leading fitba nations and we equalled [if not bettered them] for most of the game. in fact we probably had the best chances. it’s good to see that with every match [after looking a bit of a donkey in his earlier days], kevin kilbane‘s looking more suited to step into roy keane‘s boots. the clinton morrison/robbie keane partnership up front seems like is starting to develop a bit of that all-important ‘telepathy’ and was looking suitably threatening until clinton knackered his knee. [happens to the best of us! i fucked my own knee about a month ago and it's only just getting better]. damian duff had a quiet night, not working much of his usual magic on the wing and kevin reid took a while to get into the game after coming on to replace morrison. but the defence looked solid and the guys finished the game pinning the les froggies back in their own half. all in all a pretty satisfying night’s work. the only sour note happened about 400 miles away…
unfortunately england won!
